EFM is a strong supporter of the local community, having worked closely with PNG charities and not-for-profits for more than 20 years. We firmly believe in giving back to the people of PNG and bettering the local community in which our businesses operate within. Some of these include:
Buk Bilong Pikinini:
In 2014, Express Freight Management achieved platinum sponsor status with their preferred charity, Buk bilong Pikinini. Over the last 5 years, EFM, in conjunction withy Seafast, Australia has shipped and cleared over 300,000 books for the charity. Books are donated from publishers, schools and individuals in Australia. Seafast then consolidates these donations, packages them, organises the paperwork and ships them directly to Port Moresby. At this end, EFM clears the books through customs and delivers them to Buk Bilong Pikinini’s storage facility at Hastings Deering, another of our generous clients. All this gives disadvantaged children the opportunity to learn to read at the Buk Bilong Pikinini’s libraries, something they would not normally be able to achieve.
Lae Business Coalition Against HIV and AIDS:
In February 2017, Express Freight Management took up the responsibility of funding the Lae Business Coalition Against HIV and AIDS (Lae - BAHA) after relocating from Corner of Mula and Josey Street to Malaita Street. This is to give back to the community as part of the community service and participation. The Lae-BAHA is a not for profit orgainzation that carries out awareness to schools, churches, workplaces, public forums educating the community on HIV and AIDS, the preventions, lifestlyes and distribution of condoms. Lae-BAHA also offers confidential counselling and advice at their office or upon request to home visits.
